Praiano - Villa Maria Pia Hotel

We spent five amazing days on the Amalfi coast during mid May of this year! It was incredible on all accounts. Firstly ,it is not yet high season so although still busy with tourists, it wasn't yet crazy busy and you could still get seats on the SITA bus (which I understand is impossible in the July/August months). The weather is hot enough for swimming but not too hot for travelling around. We chose to base our five day stay on the Amalfi Coast in Praiano for the following few reasons: 1. It is cheaper than glitzy Positano 2. It is quieter and less chaotic than Positano or Amalfi 3 Its location is perfect... smack in the middle of Positano and Amalfi One of my decisions when booking our trip to the Amalfi coast was that I MUST have sea views from my bedroom window.... I wasn't going all the way to the Amalfi Coast to get a street or building room view.

In Praiano, there are many good options for getting that gorgeous bedroom sea view for much less than Positano and Amalfi. We chose a beautiful family-run hotel called Hotel Villa Maria Pia. Based on the rave reviews on Tripadvisor, we took the chance and booked a room. We were so happy with this hotel for so many reasons. 1. Firstly, every room offers gorgeous front-row views of the sea. You even get a view of the sea from the bathroom & while brushing your teeth!!!

2. The rooms are clean, beautiful and spacious. Each room is decorated with colorful Amalfi-style ceramic tiles... so the room is colorful, fresh and bright. The bed was super comfortable and the WiFi is strong. The bathroom is also spacious & clean and supplies you with shampoo, conditioner, soap etc.

3. The location is perfect. Just outside the hotel is the SITA bus stop! Two doors down is the most delicious restaurant (Ristorante Costa Diva) that we returned to twice! Pity we only discovered this restaurant on our third night.... I think we would have eaten there EVERY night. The hotel is a 10 minute walk to a wonderful beach and a 2 minute walk from a small grocery store. By the way, you can also buy the SITA bus tickets from the hotel reception.

4. The staff are wonderful. As I said, it is run by a husband and wife and their relatives. This means that they "care" about their customers and want them to be happy. So they are attentive, helpful and friendly. 5. Breakfasts are plentiful and you can even eat outside on the balcony and continue to enjoy those front-row views of the sea!!!! Of course we only sat outside.

6. Room service is excellent. We came home every day to an impeccably clean and tidy room. So if you are considering a hotel, I really recommend you check out Hotel Villa Maria Pia! https://www.villamariapia-praiano.com/en/hotel-praiano/
