Mount Solaro / Boat ride / Capri Town
We woke up to another sunny day in Capri. After our delicious breakfast at our B&B, we made our way to Piazza Vittoria in Anacapri to buy tickets for the Mount Solaro cable car. Since May is still shoulder season, we had no problem getting tickets and no queues. It is a 12 minute cable car ride up the mountain. The ride up is pretty. Once you arrive to the top, you get the most gorgeous, picture-perfect views of Capri, the ocean, other Islands and the Amalfi coast! Wow!! There isn't much else to do at the top. There is a bar for those who want to sit around and buy snacks & drinks and just soak up those magnificent views.
We decided to walk down the mountain rather than return by cable car. The trail is green and lush and offers lots of lovely views along the way. It isn't a difficult walk and it took us around 50 minutes.
Once back in Anacapri center, we hopped onto the local bus to Marina Grande. In the marina, we bought our tickets for the Blue Line boat tour. This tour goes around the entire Island of Capri. It is really wonderful and the views are magnificent. Towards the end of the boat ride, you can visit the Blue Grotto (at an extra cost). To go into the grotto, you need to transfer onto a small boat. The waters inside the grotto are fluorescent blue... quite amazing to see. The cost for the blue grotto is unreasonably expensive... but we thought it was worth it!! After the blue grotto, we got back onto our blue-line boat and finished the ride back to the marina..
From the marina, we took the funicular to Capri town. Capri town is very pretty. It is the glitzy, glamous part of the Island, where the rich, famous and beautiful like to stay and be seen! The town is full of fancy hotels, designer shops and gorgeous restaurants and cafes. We rested our tired legs in a lovely cafe and sipped on aperol spritz and just soaked up the atmosphere of this town.
We then took the local bus back to the tranquil part of the Island, Anacapri.
Overall, it was a wonderful day.
